We’re ready to help with personalized speech therapy for your child. Here is more information about our areas of specialty.

Evaluations

A comprehensive speech and language evaluation will take about an hour to an hour and a half and may include a combination of assessment tasks:

  • Parent interview to review your child's developmental and health history and your main concerns

  • Standardized tests

  • Play observation

  • Language sample

At the end of the evaluation, we will talk about whether or not your child qualifies for speech therapy, what kind of goals we want to work on, and what you can do to support your child's communication. We will document and share the results of your child's evaluation in a written report.

Therapy Approach

Therapy will look a lot like play! Our approach is to celebrate your child’s unique interests by following their lead in play and exploring their interests while targeting communication goals.

We believe therapy and goals should address the individual needs of your child. We’ll work together with you to set goals that are FUNctional for your child and their daily routine.

We know that kids are different in a clinic versus in an environment that is natural to them, so our service model is to bring speech therapy into the home, daycare, preschool, or school. You and your child should have fun and feel supported in speech therapy!

Early Communication

We partner with parents and caregivers (daycare staff, teachers, etc.) to help your little one develop communication through:

  • Supporting their regulation and sensory needs

  • Building connection through child-led play

  • Modeling language in natural opportunities

Feeding

We work on developing skills for feeding and increasing independence for safe and enjoyable mealtimes. Some of these skills are:

  • Structuring mealtimes for safe feeding

  • Exploring and introducing new textures

  • Dealing with food refusals

  • Advancing oral motor skills for feeding and drinking

Gestalt Language Processing

We are neurodiversity affirming and have specialized training to support the language development of gestalt language processors, children who used delayed echolalia to communicate. Language intervention for gestalt language processors looks like:

  • Supporting sensory and regulation needs

  • Building authentic connection by honoring and exploring your child's interests

  • Using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to support language

  • Acknowledging and honoring all communication (body proximity, gestures, facial expressions, words, scripts, etc.)

  • Assessing and working through the stages of Natural Language Acquisition (developed by Marge Blanc).

Speech & Language

In play-based, fun activities, we work with your child to:

  • Understand the difference between sounds

  • Produce sounds correctly and consistently

  • Develop awareness and correct themselves when they make an error

  • Use appropriate grammar

  • Speak more clearly!
